FIND THE RIGHT TOOLS FOR

About Some Scouts
Hi there! I am Anne-Geri’(or “Angie” or "Anj") Fann. My first name is pronounced "ann-juh-ree" (my parents were creative, not high! lol).
I recently learned that 1 in 5 adults have no form of religious identification. At my blog, we all write about a sensible, practical way to find Jesus in all parts of being a believer ... something to offer an insight into spirituality for all beliefs and all ages, including teenagers and the little ones!
We have created a blog hub split into different themes. Sunday School 101 targets adults who struggle with how on earth to raise their kids to know more about the Word of God than the first verse in Genesis. Short-Term Missions tackles the pros and cons of mission trips both abroad AND domestic, focusing on solid & appropriate preparation for such trips. And Insights for Life spotlights the themes people are attracted to when they are looking for a spirituality that isn’t uber-religious, but still very real. So, my passion is offering resources that tackle all of those issues.
I credit my love of the Word to my preacher dad who taught me about Christ's presence in the Old and New Testaments and my elementary teacher mom who supplemented that truth and raised me in the most truly educational Sunday Schools ever.
I have a Masters degree in theological studies which is what I initially set out to do but, I also (accidentally) have a Spanish degree from taking so many classes from different universities (wherever I was living) to improve my fluency. See, I had fallen in love with the language and people of Honduras where I have lived and worked many months at a time since 1988. For around 20 years I taught Spanish to high school students and often offer theology and missions/anthropology classes in different universities.
David and I have two awesome boys. Borrowing from a song based on James 4:14, I believe that "my life is just a soul trapped in a little dust" and borrowing from HDT, I do try to "squeeze the marrow" out of every moment. If you want to know more about me, you can go to my website for more fun information or find out how on earth my parents came up with Anne-Geri' ...

Sunday School Curriculum/Sleuth
(to be available in 2019
through The Scripture Scout)
Anne Gray is a child whisperer who was an elementary education teacher for many years. In one of those years, she met missionary Glen Gray whom she followed to New Zealand where they worked for about a decade and there had their daughter, Angie.
A few years later, in Colorado, Anne and Barbara McMickle began the Look at the Book program, and both have tweaked and shared it until it became used by church congregations as elementary and adult curriculum in many states and is used in different parts of the world.
She has presented the curriculum professionally to many churches and universities throughout the U.S. and South Pacific. It will soon be offered to YOU, right here at The Scripture Scout.
She and Glen now reside in Tennessee.
Addendum: This is Anne-Geri' ("Angie") writing here. In case you were wondering why the curriculum has not been available at any formally perceived times, my mother met with a difficult illness and passed from this earth to glory sooner than expected and over the Christmas holidays of 2018. I did, however, finish transferring her curriculum to a downloadable file and literally typed the last few words at the very moment I got a call from the dad to get to their home as quickly as possible ... several hours later, she went to be with Jesus.
We had been working on it together as much as possible, but at the end, not a lot was possible. There were still a few tweaks I needed to finish for her but everything came to a halt upon her passing, planning and hosting a Celebration of Life service and the other stuff that comes with loss. You know ... grief. :-(
However, I have recently been able to proceed. If you would like to be alerted of it's availability, please contact The Scripture Scout right HERE with the words "I would like a couple of free lessons from the Sleuth for the Truth Sunday School curriculum" and we'll send them right out to you.
Thank you for understanding. You may also read HERE for a humorously spiritual little something that was read at her services.
Hi, I’m Kara! I’m considered the guru of Photo Management and production with The Scripture Scout. In other words, if I don't take the photos myself I am allowed to “thumbs down” stuff that isn't amazing, doesn't match the topic, or just plain doesn't work (like that selfie of Anj in Cocoa Beach haha). Any photos are credited to Kara Capps Photography, multiple Unsplash photographers and Shutterstock.
Many days you might see me taking professional shots of folks when they are at their finest (graduation, wedding, families, cute newborns, and many other moments when people smile) and my goal is to show the beauty, grace, strength and enthusiasm of those hearts and faces. I also have two rockin’ girls and a husband of hummuna-hummuna years. All that being said...
I will be the first to tell you that JESUS. SAVED. MY. LIFE. You can read more about that HERE. But for now, enjoy perusing this site and be grateful you have found these resources.
Love Jesus, love yourself. And you know you are loving yourself by loving Jesus! Promise. Peace out!
